Meeting Minutes
Saturday, February 22, 2020
Meeting called to order at 12:00 PM at the Kern River Valley Gun Range classroom and began with the flag salute.
Introductions:

- First Time Attendees- James “Ed” Niehaus, William Marantos, Frank Llanes and 2nd time attending Kevin Morgan due to Saturday meeting.
- 22 members present
Past Meeting Minutes: Kee Johnson read the meeting minutes for Thursday, January 23, 2020 meeting. Approved.
President’s Report: Jeff Evans
- SHOT Show:
- Focus again this year was ideas for improving the range.
- Looked at more target systems – self healing, lighter weight
- Re-visited MT2 Range clean-up company
- Whiskey Flat Days:
- Successful Weekend
- Manny S. from 213 area code won the rifle raffle.
- Trailer donation for community awareness (i.e. Cowboy Quick Draw). Trailer donated to Cowboy Quick Draw owners, Jeff Evans and Bob Johnson, who will be advertising for the gun club. Donation made after lengthy discussion and unopposed vote.
- NRA Grants Submitted:
- One grant received.
- Improve electrical service to the range (SCE).
- Electrical run to trap range, cowboy range, training room and camping area. Need quotes from electrical contractors. 5th contractor coming out in a few weeks.
- HESCO barriers between rifle and pistol range and between pistol and cowboy range.
- MT2 lead abatement and berm rehabilitation.
- 5 Stand shotgun course
- Youth/Women’s 20 gauge shotguns/.22 rifles, archery equipment and targets. GRANT Includes 1 Ruger American Rimfire Compact with peep sights, 22LR,

Treasurer’s Report: Bob Johnson gave the treasurer’s report. Club has $31,134.20 as of 2-21-20. Income: $14,013.70 Expenses: $3,596.01 Insurance and USFS fees will be due soon.
Membership at 358 + 93 life members
Chief Range Safety Officer Report: Mark Miller will need 3 RSO’S for Dan Patterson’s group on April 4th (also Fishing Derby Weekend) and 5 RSO’S for Mt. Mesa Men’s Club Trap Shoot on May 9th. Mark is going to start calling the RSO’S approx. one week prior to your designated workday as a reminder. Anyone wanting to be a RSO, please call Mark.at 661-900-0050
Competition Director: Dennis Veale had his February shoot in the wind and rain with 9 shooters, 7 members and 2 non-members. Lead free copper bullets were used for the competition. In 5th place was Tracy Brown, 4th – Alex Pish, 3rd – Jason Meadows, 2nd – Frank Llanes and 1st place was Kevin Hinkle
February 22 – .22 rimfire rifle steel challenge. 50 rounds minimum. Targets at 10-12 yards. Timed event price for each entry will be $5.00 for members and $10.00 for non-members.
- March 28 – Tactical Shotgun Shoot. 30 Birdshot #6 or smaller and 10 Slugs. Timed event price for each entry will be $5.00 for members and $10.00 for non-members.

- Electrical Situation: Trencher has been donated for use digging a 250’ trench to the classroom.
- Water is needed for hand washing station that has been moved to the gun cleaning station. This may be an eye wash station – may take a certain solution
- Thomas refuse is making us a towable trash bin. Will charge an extra $10.00 a month.
