Meeting Minutes
Saturday, July 23, 2022
Meeting called to order at 1:00 PM at the Kern River Valley Gun Club classroom and began with the flag salute.
Introductions:

Past Meeting Minutes: Kee Johnson – No Meeting, due to lack of quorum
President’s Report: Jeff Evans
- Unauthorized Range Use – There has been a large amount of unauthorized range use, such as use by non-members, members that have not renewed their membership, fake numbers being used and people just not signing in.
- One non-member was coming in, using the gate code, signing in but using false membership numbers. His application for this year has been denied. Another previous member came in when the gate was open and signed in using his last year’s membership number. He was able to fill out application and pay for this year’s membership.
- No Trespassing Signs are being posted stating that only current members in good standing and their guests (limit 3) are permitted to access the range. Range phone number will be included on signs.
- Blue Tooth Locks have been purchased (3) for the front gate, cowboy, and trap containers. All members will have access to front gate lock after the App is put on your phone. Combination lock will be on the front gate also.
- Reolink Camera system for Pistol and Rifle Range area. Currently have 7 cameras. Proposed increasing to 12 for better coverage and down range visibility. ~ $1,300 – $1,500. Vote to Approve. Unanimous vote to approve the purchase of these cameras.
- Gun Laws
- Newsom signed AB 2571 into law, which prohibits the marketing of any firearms and holding firearm events for junior shooters.
- (4) “Firearm industry member” means any of the following:
- (A) A person, firm, corporation, company, partnership, society, joint stock company, or any other entity or association engaged in the manufacture, distribution, importation, marketing, wholesale, or retail sale of firearm-related products.
- (B) A person, firm, corporation, company, partnership, society, joint stock company, or any other entity or association formed for the express purpose of promoting, encouraging, or advocating for the purchase, use, or ownership of firearm-related products that does one of the following:
- (i) Advertises firearm-related products.
- (ii) Advertises events where firearm-related products are sold or used.
- (iii) Endorses specific firearm-related products.
- (iv) Sponsors or otherwise promotes events at which firearm-related products are sold or used.
- Bottom line is we can have events for junior shooters but we cannot advertise that we are having one.
- Newsom signed AB 2571 into law, which prohibits the marketing of any firearms and holding firearm events for junior shooters.
Treasurer’s Report: Bob Johnson gave the treasurer’s report. Club has $43,645.15.
Income: $2,366.94 and expenses were $4,022.44, which included $1,887.81 being spent on clay pigeons.
Range Executive Officer Report: Doug Rudolph advised that we only have 8 RSO’S. Two recently resigned. Therefore, the range will only be open to the public on the 2nd & 4th Sundays. Three RSO’S are needed for each Sunday.
Competition Director: Position is open for Volunteer
Dennis Veale will be having an aspirin shoot on the fourth Saturday of August (August 27)
$10 entry fee.
